ROBERT JON & THE WRECK: Live at The Ancienne Belgique (2023)

To be taken in for a good time in the unique atmosphere of a concert, nothing beats this double CD & DVD album by
Robert Jon & The Wreck produced on June 29, 2022 in Brussels at L'ancienne Belgique, and produced on the
Journeyman Records label co-founded by Joe Bonamassa. The CD contains 14 tracks, the DVD 19 tracks, drawing from
their large repertoire. A preview was previously given on the album released in 2022 "Wreckage vol. 2" with two tracks:
"She's a Fighter" and "Waiting for your man" from the concert at L'ancienne Belgique. This "Wreckage vol. 2" also has the
particularity of containing a superb version of “The Weight” by The Band which predisposes to its purchase.
Let's return to the content of the live CD and DVD where we overview part of their discography through the charismatic
voice of its leader Robert Jon Burrison, as in the opening the good “The devil is your only friend”, from the album Clory
Bound (2015) , but the most subtle are the wonderful compositions dating from 2020 from the album “Last Light On The
Highway”, with “Tired Of Drinking Alone” and “Do you Remember”, and especially “Oh Miss Carolina”, a real standard that
perfumes the ears, the real musical slap of this concert to be savored endlessly, and the extended title “Gold Night”, with
the Marshall Tucker Band texture, coming from the album “Glory Bound”, where the lead guitarist Henry James
Schneekluth has a field day, because it riffs incredibly well left and right. The best gratitude that can be attributed to the
quintet Robert Jon & The Wreck is the authenticity of its music, ready to stand on its own against the groups of the old
South with a broad influence Blues, Country-Rock, Southern Rock, via the Allman Brothers Band, the Marshall Tucker
Band, as well as Eagles, Tom Petty, The Band, despite their favorite place Orange County/California, the California which
surprises us in a great way with groups with a Southern Rock atmosphere like the Sam Morrison Band, Achille's Wheel,
or Cripple Creek Band.
